How do you choose a trust worthy contractor?

general-contractorChoosing a General Contractor is simple really…

As I am learning more and more about the construction industry in my marketing venture I am finding that a lot of people often feel nervous when hiring a GC. Most often I hear from our clients that they have been burned more than once and want nothing more than to find someone they can trust. When looking for a General Contractor one of the first things you want to look at is:

  • Job Scopes or Past ClientsTL Hill Construction a Contractor you can trust

If the company chooses not to release these to you or doesn’t have any to give right off hand you should know something isn’t right.  And GOOGLE!  Always do a quick web search.  Today it seems we get most of our questions answered there anyways.  Why not use it when looking for a GC?

  • Whats the Business History?

How long have they been around, how did they get to where they are today and most importantly who is the actual owner?  Is he, himself, the General Contractor with actual field experience?

TL Hill Construction has some great clients that have decided to use TL Hill exclusively to handle all their construction needs and our Job Scopes far outweigh most in the industry today!  So with a background like that why would you choose to go anywhere else?

Why a Rainscreen Panel System over the Standard?

Why a Rainscreen Panel System over the Standard?

Port of West Palm Beach KPS Rainscreen Panel System

Port of West Palm Beach KPS Rainscreen Panel System

When a company chooses a Rainscreen Panel System vs. the common block structure most architects and builders are taking in to account the beauty and architectural elegance. However, in deciding on a panel system, quality should be a big deciding factor. In working with TL Hill I have found that we carry a product that is not very common in today’s building structures here in Florida as much as it is in the northern states. The KPS Rainscreen Panel System is an intricate Panel System that not only extends the life of the structure it’s applied to by at last 20-30 years, but it also carries a 25 yr warranty! The KPS Rainscreen Panel System is durable, non serviceable like many wet applied panel systems and very pleasing to the eye. This system lends itself to drastic and elusive designs by adding a touch of class to any project to which it may be applied. The ability to protect a building for 20-30 years should be sufficient for any owner to want and prolong the life of their buildings. The ability to not have to service the caulking agents should be the long term goal of any maintenance manager as the product will look like it was originally installed for many years to come without having to allocate funds that can very well be used in other scopes for maintenance. This is a great product and the pros far outweigh the cons.

New to Construction? or New to Marketing…. which is it?

Port of West Palm Beach, KPS rainscreen Panel System

Port of West Palm Beach, KPS rainscreen Panel System

I have been working with TL Hill Construction for a little over 2 months now. When I came on board with the TL Hill team, the first thing I realized was what an amazing company it was. Not only because they specialize in one specific product like the Insulated Metal Panels, but because they can do any project of any size. I have found that because most of TL’s work has been “under the radar” due to the fact that 85% of his work scope has been governmental and or Military. Most these jobs were strictly word of mouth and referrals only. Just a few of our job scopes alone would amaze just about anyone. From the largest one story building in the world, NASA VAB, to the most important submarine dry dock in the nation, Kings Bay, TL Hill Construction has done it all. Seeing these large scopes of work and then seeing the low income housing he built for Manatee county made me wonder what kind of progress we could make should someone start marketing this company.

So as I got together with my friend Melissa at SEO AWARE and started this venture of “Marketing Construction”, I found that not only am I sitting on a gold mine, but I am also selling one of the most amazing specialty contractors in the south east region of the United States. I am learning that most all GC’s rely on the “Word of Mouth” prospect of getting business referrals, which is great. However, in today’s market “word of mouth” just isn’t enough. You need to be Internet accessible. Most construction companies are hard working, “start to finish” kind of people. They seem to neglect the statistics of websites and what kind of clientele it can bring to the table.

First of all, most people like myself who are “handy man challenged” use one very important tool when it comes to the terms and definitions of the construction industry: GOOGLE! Everybody uses some kind of search engine to educate themselves. Whether it is Google, Bing, or even a simple Yahoo search we find exactly what we are looking for by the click of a mouse. During this process of “educating” ourselves we find trust and confidence in the company from which we gather our information. Perhaps instead of trust I should say comfort. Either way, we are connected on a much more personal level. And should I decide to make that call or order that service I am 80% more likely to touch base with the place that seems most comforting, trusting, and worthy of my business.

My job here at TL Hill is to make the customer feel confident in our name as well as our services and making us more visible to the World Wide Web. It’s been an adventure to say the least, but seeing the progress in the analytics and hearing the phones ringing more often with confident clients ready to move forward, I feel that this is a project with which I am eager to go further. As time goes on I am hoping to bring more clients to the table and our services to the local Florida communities.

Thanks for reading and make sure you check out our services as well as our galleries and see if there is anything we can do to assist you in any of your building/construction needs. We give free estimates and will always guarantee our work! We are a company thats built solely on our trust, reliability, and quality! Now isn’t that what we are all looking for in the long run anyways?

RICKY THE CHIMP ‘APES’ JON STEWART ON BOOK COVER
Trained by Pam Rosaire Zoppe and a regular at Big Cat Habitat’s educational
animal demonstrations, Ricky mimics ‘The Daily Show’ anchorman on his
newly-released ‘Earth (The Book): A Visitor’s Guide to the Human Race.’
Ricky will sign copies of the book at Big Cat Habitat’s season
grand opening Wednesday, Nov. 24

SARASOTA, Fla., Nov. 8, 2010 – Sarasota’s own Ricky, the chimpanzee with film, television and magazine credits a starlet would covet, now is featured with his old friend Jon Stewart, anchor of “The Daily Show,” on the cover of Stewart’s new book.
“Earth (The Book): A Visitor’s Guide to the Human Race” was released Sept. 21 by Grand Central Publishing and is on the New York Times Best-Sellers List. Ricky will sign copies of the book at the season grand opening of the Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary on Wednesday, Nov. 24, during the 1:30 p.m. performance. Gates open at 12:30 p.m.

Ricky, raised by Pam Rosaire Zoppe and a regular participant at the Big Cat Habitat’s educational animal demonstrations, is shown sitting next to Stewart perfectly imitating the anchorman’s posture and sober, yet earnest, stare from behind the news desk. Both are framed by a gigantic photo of the Earth from space in the background.

The Emmy Award-winning Stewart first worked with the banana-reward-earning Ricky on a photo shoot for Vanity Fair several years ago. “Ricky remembered Jon right away and made a big fuss over him,” Rosaire Zoppe said. “They were really happy to see each other.”

While Ricky’s credits include no Emmy awards (where are the animal rights activists now?), he has worked in numerous film, television and magazine shoots, including MTV, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair.

Big Cat Habitat will also be open Friday through Sunday, Nov. 26 to Nov. 28, with self-guided tours and a petting zoo starting at 12:30 p.m. and an educational animal demonstration featuring the big cats and other animals starting at 1:30 p.m. The tours and demonstrations will continue throughout season on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 12:30 p.m. Admission donations are $12 for adults and $7 for children. No donation is asked of active members of the military. More information is available at www.BigCatHabitat.org or by calling 941-371-6377.
